Approx. Reading Time: 3 minutesMy husband and I option tested some fast food carnivore meals over Labor Day Weekend.
Fast Food Carnivore
Between dieting and my husband’s celiac disease, we have not eaten fast food in years. In fact, we rarely eat out at all and generally purchase the highest quality meats available to us. However, this weekend we spent time searching for a new place to live. Due to this, we were on the road throughout the day and needed options. We figured why not grab a few plain patties at each chain and see how it goes. All of the restaurants claim 100% beef patties.
Fast Food Carnivore Taste Testing Fast Food Burgers
Our first stop,
Burger King, we ordered six patties. First thing I noticed the flame grilled taste overwhelmed the beef flavor.
At
McDonald’s, again we ordered six patties. Could have been the location, but the total came to about $.50 more. Overall, the meat tasted fine.
A few hours later, we stopped at
Wendy’s for another six burger patties. Although I disliked
Wendy’s growing up, I will admit their beef tasted most fresh. Apparently, in the absence of bread and toppings, square meat does the job just fine. My husband strongly preferred Wendy’s taste and quality.
For me,
Burger King, McDonald’s, and
Wendy’s all left an aftertaste in my mouth. My husband, however, did not feel the same way.
Finally, we stopped at
Sonic Drive-In. The attendant didn’t know how to ring the order in, so they charged us for bacon. The total came to over a dollar less, since the price was $.20 lower on each. Again, he likely undercharged us. At first look, I noticed the size of the patty to be larger than all of the other choices.
For me,
Sonic Drive-In won. Their plain patty did not leave an aftertaste in my mouth, and the slightly larger size didn’t hurt. My husband enjoyed
Wendy’s best overall. In general, I do not see either of us becoming a fast food carnivore. Still, we like having reliable options when on the road.

Eight Weeks Progress Update
Eight weeks carnivore, wow. Time flies when you enjoy what you eat.
Officially the longest I have followed any strict way of eating without a cheat or tasty treat in my life.
I genuinely enjoy how well my body feels and do not miss spending hours daydreaming about what to eat next. Those daydreams led to disappointment; I never felt satisfied. Despite bloating to the point where I often felt stuffed, the desire for more treats persisted. I am so grateful I no longer have this problem.
The fast food carnivore taste testing ended our seventh week on a positive note. We no longer have to worry about traveling without prepared food.

Overall, our measurements continue to decrease. With the increased protein on top of our physical activity, both of us achieved muscular gains this week.
