We Are All Responsible For Creating A Better World

I am shocked more people do not feel obligated to do their part to create good in this world. As a society, we have become complacent and virtually government co-dependent. The average person takes the luxuries of today for granted. We pay taxes then expect the world to progress forward. Too many people don’t think they are responsible for the part they play in these transactions.

Could it be that excessive taxes and the subsequent government programs and projects make us care less about our community? The waste in government corrupts our respect for their work. As a third party purchaser, the government subjects itself to the worst deals for the country as a whole. Rather imagine if the residents controlled more projects, maybe we could save some money. This also gets rid of the bloat. When government steps in, the prices rise.

Responsible for Subsidized Housing

Consider housing assistance programs. Any self-reliant and responsible landlord negotiates for the highest possible rent. The government agencies must pay fair market value for the area and consider the additional costs of eligibility requirements. Once achieving this high rate, a landlord remains within their right to prefer accepting tenants whose rental payments are highest and almost guaranteed. For what other purposes would you own real estate, if not to make money?

Businesses Screwing Us – Consumers Are Also Responsible

When a business does us wrong, we are quick to sue. Americans devalue the spoken word by opting for legal action over public condemnation.

Lately, a slew of boycotts ignited over political beliefs. In many cases, the boycotts are misguided, in other cases, irrelevant. However, as a whole, the action remains correct. If the masses truly believe in something the responsibility lies with them to stand up for those beliefs. If the boycott creates even a marginal reduction in profits, you have succeeded far better than legal or legislative action ever could.

The truth is we should be happy to pay top dollar for quality in service and product – especially if we want to see wages rise and income to equalize. For years, I remember people letting their friends know about bad experiences. But, now, they accept things and move on. Is it possible that we expect a lower standard, who knows?

Responsible to Learn from our Past

Learn from history, so you don’t repeat it. But also, don’t get stuck in it. The biggest lesson from history is to move forward and live in the present. You forge the path; the universe will throw in obstacles that you must accept. But you must be responsible and become the captain of your ship.
