We experience life through a Dirty Windshield. Each day, we make an endless number of choices both, consciously and subconsciously. As we move through life, we overcome obstacles or, as I see them, the “dirt” on our respective “windshield.”
Dirty Windshield started as a metaphorical discussion and evolved into a journey between a husband and a wife.
Bettering Ourselves To Better Society
At the core, our focus is always personal development and growth. We value on-going learning, self-taught or otherwise, and pursuing individual passions that give your life purpose and meaning. Alicia and Nelson, husband and wife team, believe we have to help ourselves to help others.
Every one of us holds a unique skill set which when harnessed and mastered can benefit society greatly. However, for many of us, busy lives, debt, worry, or regret prevent us from recognizing or pursuing what we love.
Our personal development journey involves weight and health issues, physical ability, improving mental well-being, philosophical/value building, as well as, learning and mastering new skills and so much more to continually add. And, for Alicia, overcoming the disaster that is being a “millennial.”
How It All Started
We met by chance on September 27, 2013. Three years later to the day, we wed as two best friends and partners in life. Since then, we promised to continuously challenge one another and often discuss odd topics in depth. One evening, we intensely debated this idea of how we view life through a “Dirty Windshield” that needs to be regularly cleaned, improved upon, and maintained.
The next day, we purchased the domain but were clueless about where to start. For a few months, we hung an under construction sign and all but forgot about our plans.
In August 2017, due to difficult working conditions, Alicia and Nelson agreed that Alicia would discontinue her current career. Over the following year, Alicia focused primarily on her personal development and learning new skills. Chronicling this journey brought Dirty Windshield to life.
Personal Development Areas
As we develop, these areas will continue to expand. Personal development is on-going, not one and done.
Health
We currently follow a carnivore diet/way of eating. Although we have excessive weight, we value physical ability so we now regularly perform bodyweight exercises and general calisthenics. Through our n=1 experiments, we seek to find the secret to unlocking our health.
While we share our experiences with the carnivore diet, calisthenics training, and fasting, we believe that each person must determine what way of eating and exercise brings them to optimal health. The choices sound extreme, but to find what hurts your body, you must eliminate as many variables as possible.
Mental Well-Being
As humans, we seek to find happiness in our lives and with ourselves. With so much negativity in the world, often we find ourselves unhappy with a victimhood mentality. We no longer live in the moment, we expect immediate gratification, and do not appreciate things or express gratitude. Suffering is key to happiness, as is a mindful presence in the moment.
Curiosity
As mentioned earlier, my husband and I love to discuss odd topics. Curiosity allows us to grow, to find new pursuits and destinations, and challenge our beliefs. We love sharing our travel experiences and views of exciting topics, like the Bill of Rights.
Pursuing Passions/Living with Purpose
Ultimately, we live our best life if we do what we love. At Dirty Windshield, we live with purpose and admire others who do as well. As we develop and master new skills, we share our story. In the long term, we plan to expand in this area to assist others following the same path.

Life is more than your 9-5, do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life. The founders of Dirty Windshield understand not everyone can jump ship at their current job and dive full force into their business. That is where Dirty Windshield comes in! Our founders personally seek out passion-driven folks who create amazing things and help spotlight and build their business.
Currently, Dirty Windshield focuses primarily on our journey. However, we plan to share the stories, passions, and purposes of others as well.
