It’s been a little over a week since I began focusing on adrenal health to battle my weight issues. In that time, I held the motto: Keep calm and eat meat.
Eating to Stay Calm
Now, I’ll admit I ate foods besides meat, however, only minimally. For the most part, my mishaps, as I will call them, were bites of other food, not meals. I’d say I’ve eaten at least 95% carnivore.
My main focus remains adrenal health, so staying calm is of the utmost importance.
Between joining the gym, quitting caffeine, and transitioning back to all meat at the same time, I expected to take each moment as they came to minimize stress. So, when a bite of food prevents stress, I chose that route. And, I must say I hold no regrets.
With the added cardio, I now feel the need to eat significantly more. Averaging no less than 2.5 pounds of meat per day.
I don’t track my food intensely since my goal is to stay calm. But, I’ve probably gotten close to 3.5-4 pounds some days.
Mentally Calm
Since last Tuesday, I changed several of my habits to reduce stress.
To stay mentally calm, I took the time to remove stressful information from being blasted my way through notifications and social media.
I unfollowed and unsubscribed from outrage junkies and media outlets to reduce unnecessary stress. Algorithms still push bullshit my way but in a manageable amount.
The toughest thing I dealt with since last Tuesday was my favorite dog, Bindi, suddenly passing away. For the past few months, she began suffering from some health issues. She is no longer suffering, but I genuinely miss her.
Holding the right mindset about staying calm made a huge difference. In reality, we have more control of our mind that we think.
At the Gym
I also attribute my success to my efforts at the gym. My typical workout consists of 45 minutes of cardio – generally elliptical, crossramp, or arc trainer.
I take time to stretch at the end and top it off with a trip in the sauna. In addition to cardio, some days, I include body weight exercises. When I do it’s usually pushups or assisted dips and pull-ups. All of this allows me to reach a meditative state.
Yesterday, I couldn’t help myself as a former lifting-addict watching all of the weight lifting around me. As a result, I did three sets on the bench press with the standard 45-pound bar totaling 45 reps (20, 15, 10).
No regrets! It felt great to push some iron around.
Progress
When it comes to adrenal and hormonal weight issues, the expectation is slow weight loss. I never expect to lose weight, but feel endlessly grateful when I do.
At the present time, I weigh 187 pounds on my home scale. So, in eight non-perfect days, I managed to lose six pounds. ZERO COMPLAINTS from me!
At this point, I assume the losses stem primarily from water weight. Below, I provide updated measurements.
